Kurdish family including two parents and two children were found dead Monday in Allen, Texas, weeks after their daughter drowned, police said.
According to authorities, a tragic incident unfolded when officials responded to a welfare call at a residence. The deceased individuals have been identified as Farman Sherwani, the father, Layla Sherwani, the mother, and their son Mateen Sherwani, aged 2, and their daughter Shaheen Sherwani, aged 12.
The family originally came from the Barzan area in North Erbil. It has come to light that the family also experienced the heartbreaking loss of their 4-year-old daughter, who drowned in a swimming pool three weeks prior. While the specifics of that incident are not clear, police say the drowning was a factor in Monday’s murder-suicide.
Detectives from the Allen Police Department have confirmed that they believe the drowning of the 4-year-old girl to be a contributing factor in this tragic incident. The Islamic Association of Allen hosted a funeral for the four family members Tuesday evening.
The bodies of the Kurdish family members were found when officers responded to a welfare call at their residence in Allen, Texas, a city located approximately 30 miles north of Dallas.
Despite reaching out to the KRG representative in Washington D.C for further information regarding the accident, Kurdaily unfortunately did not receive a response.
