Felaw pond is one of the most beautiful resorts in Iraqi Kurdistan. The pond is one of the high level and beautiful natural ponds in Kurdistan as well.
In winter, The Pond freezes, surrounded by snow, It gives an amazing and unforgettable view. Spending a night around the pond with the nice and snow-covered mountains at the spring will be fantastic. In addition, Camping and drinkable water in area are available as well. The pond is located in the Choman district of Erbil province, few kilometers away from the Iranian borders. To get there, You can take a private Taxi from Erbil or Soran to Choman and from Choman you need to drive through mountains. Otherwise, You can hire a tourist guide who will take you there easier.
2-Kani Bast
Kani bast meaning “the Frozen spring” in Kurdish language, It’s the tallest waterfall in Iraq. As the name suggests The waterfall freezes most time in winter.
The Kani bast waterfall, which is nearly 2,000 meters above sea level, is 36 meters high. The snow on the mountain peaks melts and causing the waterfall to flow. Due to its uniqueness, The waterfall attracts thousands of tourists annually. The image of the waterfall is printed on the 50,000 dinar note.
